Welcome to the destined for success podcast.
Jennifer Takagi:I'm your host, Jennifer Takagi and this podcast used to be
Jennifer Takagi:called new manager media manage right from the start. Many of
Jennifer Takagi:the concepts are the same, that there's a little shift. There's
Jennifer Takagi:a shift because I know we are all destined for success. And I
Jennifer Takagi:want to help you find the fastest, smoothest way to reach
Jennifer Takagi:your highest best as quickly as possible. Join me in today's
Jennifer Takagi:episode, where you're going to come up with new ways to build
Jennifer Takagi:your skills, and influence others to make the impact you
Jennifer Takagi:desire to make. I look forward to connecting with you soon.
Jennifer Takagi:Welcome to destined for success. I'm your host, Jennifer Takagi
Jennifer Takagi:and I'm so excitable today, because I have my friend Amber
Jennifer Takagi:Griffiths with us. And the funny thing is Amber and I met at an
Jennifer Takagi:event in person, I believe it was in September of 2019. Then
Jennifer Takagi:we met again in June of 2023. She booked a coffee chat call
Jennifer Takagi:and a podcast interview, which we're doing today. But on our
Jennifer Takagi:coffee chat. I said I met you at an event and she was yeah, in
Jennifer Takagi:New Orleans like three weeks ago. And I was like no, I met
Jennifer Takagi:you before that. So the bottom line is we met in person two
Jennifer Takagi:times, not once, but twice, before we ever met online.
Amber Griffiths:So not how the world works anymore.
Unknown:So as backwards, you're here, I'm so happy my links
Unknown:worked because sometimes technology can be my friend.
Unknown:Sometimes it's a little seven, two. And so like it worked in
Unknown:awhile. Ah, here we are. It's perfect. So I love that your
Unknown:title on the Zoom call is maker of Legends. You spoke at an
Unknown:event called work party Monday afternoon all about getting your
Unknown:personal brand out there. So tell the audience a little bit
Unknown:about yourself about your history. And what you do to help
Unknown:make me a legend.
Amber Griffiths:Oh, my goodness, that's a lot of
Amber Griffiths:questions all in one place.
Unknown:Because now we can go anywhere with this
Amber Griffiths:kind of No, the world is our oyster. Yes. So
Amber Griffiths:first things first, I'm so tickled to be actually connected
Amber Griffiths:like in this real way. Because I mean, meeting you in 2023 as if
Amber Griffiths:you were a stranger, when you absolutely weren't, is just it's
Amber Griffiths:like meeting an old friend for the first time. It's so
Amber Griffiths:fabulous. I just love it. So thanks for having me, I'm
Amber Griffiths:thrilled to be here. I'm a little bit about me, I was
Amber Griffiths:certain I was going to be a pharmacist, all the way through
Amber Griffiths:high school, got a gutter scholarship, got a job at the VA
Amber Griffiths:hospital here in Salt Lake City, and was well on my way to be a
Amber Griffiths:pharmacist. And then I realized that I have no interest in pills
Amber Griffiths:or medication or anything. I had spent six years working at this
Amber Griffiths:hometown pharmacy that was like pharmacy in the front floral in
Amber Griffiths:the back. And so I thought for sure that that's what like I
Amber Griffiths:knew I loved it. And I love the people that I worked with. And I
Amber Griffiths:thought that's why I wanted to do pharmacy. And what it turned
Amber Griffiths:out is I love the people. I love the stories, because they would
Amber Griffiths:come in between the pharmacy and the floral shop. I would see
Amber Griffiths:them on their best and their worst possible days. We did
Amber Griffiths:wedding arrangements, we did prom, we did funeral
Amber Griffiths:arrangements. And then the medication is hey, by the way,
Amber Griffiths:we're going to do birth control because I'm not having any more
Amber Griffiths:kids yay. And I'm getting off birth control. We're doing
Amber Griffiths:prenatal because I've had, I mean, it was such extremes, like
Amber Griffiths:all the way through there. And it wasn't about medication. It
Amber Griffiths:was about those people. And it was about hearing their stories.
Amber Griffiths:And it took me way too long to figure out that I was destined
Amber Griffiths:to work with people. And because I love them, like always been
Amber Griffiths:that social person. Now, you know, my parents moved us into a
Amber Griffiths:new little town when I was four years old. And while they're
Amber Griffiths:unpacking the truck, I was walking up and down the street
Amber Griffiths:introducing myself to all the neighbors like they thought I
Amber Griffiths:was lost. I was just making friends. I found a place that
Amber Griffiths:offered me ice cream. You know you're not supposed to take
Amber Griffiths:candy from strangers. But if they're two little old ladies
Amber Griffiths:sitting on the porch with ice cream, totally just entering,
Amber Griffiths:you should stay here till we figure out who the heck you are,
Amber Griffiths:where you belong. So I've always loved people, and I've loved
Amber Griffiths:their stories forever. And I think partially because if you
Amber Griffiths:can get somebody in a position where they're willing to share
Amber Griffiths:that with you, that's magic. Like they're, I know you have, I
Amber Griffiths:know you've experienced this in your world to Jennifer, because
Amber Griffiths:like when you get in that vulnerable, I'm going to open
Amber Griffiths:up. And then they think they're going to open up the like the
Amber Griffiths:top three layers, and then all sudden, you're in layer 2829.
Amber Griffiths:And they're like, Oh my God, what did I just do? Like? How
Amber Griffiths:did I? How did you make me say that? Where did we go from here?
Amber Griffiths:Yeah, I wasn't, I wasn't gonna see that. And it's just
Amber Griffiths:beautiful. Because you realize how many of us have those
Amber Griffiths:stories, hidden, good, and bad, and ugly and wonderful. We have
Amber Griffiths:put so many expectations in so many different disappointments
Amber Griffiths:and all those things that have just clouded and suffocated our
Amber Griffiths:voice. That now I get to work with people and say, like, what
Amber Griffiths:do you what really lights you up, you shouldn't have to do one
Amber Griffiths:on one coaching. If you don't like one on one coaching, you
Amber Griffiths:shouldn't have to do it. Like, especially because I've worked
Amber Griffiths:with entrepreneurs almost exclusively. And when I can get
Amber Griffiths:into there and say, let's talk about the things you love to do,
Amber Griffiths:not the things you think you should, or some coach somewhere
Amber Griffiths:along the way or some guru said, Hey, this is how you make money,
Amber Griffiths:do exactly what I say and fit into this box and fold in the
Amber Griffiths:corners of your personality and your creativity and your
Amber Griffiths:uniqueness. And you'll make a billion dollars. It's a load,
Amber Griffiths:it's an absolute crock. And that's left them burned. It's
Amber Griffiths:left them disappointed and dejected. And, and every time
Amber Griffiths:something like that happens to a human being we get a little
Amber Griffiths:quieter. We, you know, we go back and retreat into our find
Amber Griffiths:them this is my space, and I will sit in my corner and I
Amber Griffiths:won't stand up. I mean, how many? How many times if you if
Amber Griffiths:you think back in your childhood, knowing you as much
Amber Griffiths:as I do, you probably have experienced this. You're too
Amber Griffiths:loud. Let's sit down and let somebody else talk. Okay, we've
Amber Griffiths:heard from you be like, we all have some version of that. And
Amber Griffiths:sadly, we've carried that into our business too. So I get to
Amber Griffiths:help you unlock that. And I do that through the power of
Amber Griffiths:branding. Because it's not just local font colors. It's it's
Amber Griffiths:your voice. It's your mannerisms. It's your isms. It's
Amber Griffiths:your values and how they're expressed and how you treat
Amber Griffiths:people. And creating a brand that is a living, breathing
Amber Griffiths:entity that grows with you. So that when you show up totally
Amber Griffiths:authentic totally, and everything in your skin that is
Amber Griffiths:so beautiful you, your audience just breathes you in. And when
Amber Griffiths:they can experience that, that makes you unforgettable that
Amber Griffiths:makes you legend. That's what I get to do with people.
Jennifer Takagi:Oh, have I done that yet? Like, what are we
Jennifer Takagi:gonna do that tomorrow?
Amber Griffiths:Yes, yes, we should totally, let's say two
Amber Griffiths:o'clock on it
Jennifer Takagi:on your calendar. So I just have to say
Jennifer Takagi:last weekend, I had kind of a traumatic event. We have a
Jennifer Takagi:little place at the lake and I have a golf cart. And I was
Jennifer Takagi:going to our neighbors to ride out with my friends on the boat.
Jennifer Takagi:My husband was busy had appointments. So he was going to
Jennifer Takagi:meet me out there and later at the beach. And I'm driving down
Jennifer Takagi:the road. And I don't know how fast my golf car goes. But all
Jennifer Takagi:of a sudden, it's going left and I need to be in the middle of
Jennifer Takagi:the road and it's going to the left and I'm turning the
Jennifer Takagi:steering wheel and it's not turning. And all of a sudden I
Jennifer Takagi:realized I'm headed straight for a telephone pole and electrical
Jennifer Takagi:box. And I was going I slam on the brakes at just the right
Jennifer Takagi:moment. And the back tire literally just dug up all the
Jennifer Takagi:dirt as I went down into a ditch. Luckily, it wasn't a deep
Jennifer Takagi:dish ditch and it was all grass. But that golf cart because the
Jennifer Takagi:wheels were turned to the left. And I hit the brakes. It curved
Jennifer Takagi:the golf cart. So we did I didn't hit the telephone pole. I
Jennifer Takagi:called my husband he was a complete hero. He jumped in the
Jennifer Takagi:car he came to me and the tie rod had come detached. So he
Jennifer Takagi:reattached it and goes have a fun day. See you later and the
Jennifer Takagi:golf cart drove and off we went while I was telling my friends
Jennifer Takagi:this because this was a big deal like this could have been
Jennifer Takagi:catastrophic. Yeah. And this one sassy friend of her friend was
Jennifer Takagi:visiting that I had never met before and she was like, this is
Jennifer Takagi:Jennifer. Jennifer. I hear you heard I had a dramatic story
Jennifer Takagi:with a golf cart. Show your drama tell the story. It was
Jennifer Takagi:like that it was traumatic. Like it Yeah, it was scary. And
Jennifer Takagi:there's not much protection with a golf cart. Like if I had hit
Jennifer Takagi:that to 50 miles an hour or however fast I was going it was
Jennifer Takagi:going to be ugly. So um, it kind of cracks me up a little bit.
Jennifer Takagi:And it might have been a little hurt feeling I don't know. But
Jennifer Takagi:it was like, Yes, I'm dramatic. And yes, I tell really good
Jennifer Takagi:stories? At least I think I do. I'm super happy to totally do.
Jennifer Takagi:But it was kind of funny that her perception of it was I'm
Jennifer Takagi:dramatic.
Amber Griffiths:You're dramatic. Yeah. But over the top
Jennifer Takagi:that it was true, like, I didn't embellish,
Jennifer Takagi:like, almost hit a telephone pole.
Amber Griffiths:You would have been bad it would have been it
Amber Griffiths:would have been scary. And what's wrong with a little bit
Amber Griffiths:of passion and excitement and energy? I mean, you could have
Amber Griffiths:said, so Ember the other day, I was dragging my golf cart, and
Amber Griffiths:then you're ready to pull. I didn't put it I did that for me.
Amber Griffiths:Like, you know, I mean, I think part of it is like, we get to
Amber Griffiths:decide why we're sharing our stories. Like, is this because I
Amber Griffiths:need to tell this or because, oh, my gosh, I need to tell
Amber Griffiths:this. And I need you to just be like, Oh, my gosh, are you okay?
Amber Griffiths:I don't need you to fix anything. I don't need a
Amber Griffiths:judgment. I just want to be able to tell my story and tell my
Amber Griffiths:truth here. Yeah. I'm sorry. I think you're right. I think
Amber Griffiths:there's Okay, well, like my version of it was because I'm
Amber Griffiths:one of eight children. I'm number three. It's a small Utah
Amber Griffiths:family of eight kids. And I got the case, sweetie, you have 30
Amber Griffiths:seconds to tell me this story. From my parents, and not because
Amber Griffiths:they're terrible parents, because they have so much to do.
Amber Griffiths:And there's so many of us to take care of
Jennifer Takagi:are going to tell their story. Right?
Amber Griffiths:Right. Like if we all get to use all of our
Amber Griffiths:words, they would not get anything else done. But because
Amber Griffiths:I insisted on telling him I like but let me tell you what
Amber Griffiths:happened to me the details matter and, and all the I Have
Amber Griffiths:you reenact this part of it. So rather than edit, I got really
Amber Griffiths:really fast at speaking like I upped my so I am You are
Amber Griffiths:speaking with a speech and debate champion, state and
Amber Griffiths:national, like broke JV like I debate like nobody's business
Amber Griffiths:because I can talk really, really fast especially gonna get
Amber Griffiths:except about something because I only have like six it's like the
Amber Griffiths:starter. You have like a completely messed with my speech
Amber Griffiths:pattern. But I told my story. Dang it, I got a word. But that
Amber Griffiths:was impart my version of amber she. And honestly, Jennifer,
Amber Griffiths:when I speak to these women entrepreneurs, specifically the
Amber Griffiths:women, I'm done. I've had it. I insist that they get hurt. And
Amber Griffiths:insist that they get to use their own words and tell all the
Amber Griffiths:crazy awesome, fabulous details of anything they want to say. I
Amber Griffiths:don't like there's nothing that makes somebody else's story more
Amber Griffiths:important. There's nothing? Uh, well, I she does this kind of
Amber Griffiths:the same thing I do. So I don't need to talk about it. Nonsense,
Amber Griffiths:nonsense. Get your box stand up there and preach one. Like,
Amber Griffiths:let's hear it. There's nobody else can tell it like you do. I
Amber Griffiths:could tell about star Jennifer. Even if it didn't happen to me.
Amber Griffiths:And it would be completely different. It would sound
Amber Griffiths:completely different. How can we not allow that in business and
Amber Griffiths:in serving each other to you know, like,
Jennifer Takagi:I'm the youngest of four. With two older
Jennifer Takagi:sisters. My brother was the oldest and then two sisters. And
Jennifer Takagi:I my dad was the shy, quiet type. Like he was the introvert
Jennifer Takagi:and the whole family. And one day he looked at me he goes
Jennifer Takagi:Jennifer, you do not have to share every thought that comes
Jennifer Takagi:into your head. Oh, gee, Dad, you have no idea what I don't
Jennifer Takagi:share. No kidding.
Amber Griffiths:You're getting 10% sweet cheeks.
Jennifer Takagi:Skim right off the top. Yes. So if I'm going to
Jennifer Takagi:be more successful, because the podcast is destined for the set
Jennifer Takagi:success, if I'm going to be more successful, like do you have a
Jennifer Takagi:couple of one, two or three pointers tips that like I can
Jennifer Takagi:embody that will, you know, bolster me and, you know, shine
Jennifer Takagi:my brand a little more?
Amber Griffiths:Absolutely. Okay. So first of all, I'm like,
Amber Griffiths:Are you kidding? This is my I love this. One of the things I
Amber Griffiths:would highly recommend, and that sounds really obvious, and yet
Amber Griffiths:we forget this part. define what you mean by success. Because
Amber Griffiths:some people that's a million dollars, some people a million
Amber Griffiths:is just a drop in the bucket and they want to a million. Some
Amber Griffiths:people want to be famous. Some people want to impact 10,000
Amber Griffiths:people and know that they've impacted 10,000 people. Some
Amber Griffiths:people want 100,000 Sometimes success is I want to have
Amber Griffiths:revenue coming in on the regular, but I only want to work
Amber Griffiths:10 hours a day because I want to be with my family. Or I want to
Amber Griffiths:have me time and me time doesn't include 40 hours of work. Decide
Amber Griffiths:what that success looks like to you because then you'll
Amber Griffiths:recognize it when you have it. And you can celebrate the
Amber Griffiths:process all along the way. It also keeps you on track I know
Amber Griffiths:too many entrepreneurs who have lost so much energy and so much
Amber Griffiths:time going, should I do that? Should I not do that? Like is
Amber Griffiths:that a good thing? When if you know where your success lies
Amber Griffiths:it's your vision that you're passionate your your message and
Amber Griffiths:your mission. When you know what that looks like, everything is
Amber Griffiths:like what does it take me there? No, done no more energy drain
Amber Griffiths:Newmarket constant no more thinking about it. I'm done. So
Amber Griffiths:define what it is for you. Because it's not a universal
Amber Griffiths:truth. It's not one thing fits all. Decide what that is for
Amber Griffiths:you. The sampling I would say,
Jennifer Takagi:Yeah, well, I just have to throw one thing out
Jennifer Takagi:on there. I had a friend in we had junior high back in the day,
Jennifer Takagi:tell him my age, we had junior high. And I had this new friend
Jennifer Takagi:named Tina. And we lived in a little bit more affluent
Jennifer Takagi:neighborhood than she did. And we were by far from the top of
Jennifer Takagi:the food chain on that affluent neighborhood that we lived in a
Jennifer Takagi:nice house in a nice neighborhood. They had a much
Jennifer Takagi:smaller house and a little bit older neighborhood. And they
Jennifer Takagi:weren't members of a tennis club. And so she had a sister
Jennifer Takagi:one year older, and then a brother two or three years
Jennifer Takagi:younger. And whenever I spent the night with him, they would
Jennifer Takagi:invite me to go play tennis. I was never any good. But I loved
Jennifer Takagi:going to play with him. And I got better because we played. So
Jennifer Takagi:you didn't have the winds to contend with Oklahoma, Texas, we
Jennifer Takagi:have lots of wind. So I don't know how it came up in our
Jennifer Takagi:12 1314 year old conversations. But they had moved to
Jennifer Takagi:Richardson, Texas, from another town, I don't even know where.
Jennifer Takagi:And the parents sat down the two early teenage daughters and the
Jennifer Takagi:son and said, We can buy a nice house in this neighborhood. Or
Jennifer Takagi:we can buy a smaller house in this neighborhood and join the
Jennifer Takagi:country club and play tennis. What do you want to do? And the
Jennifer Takagi:kids made the decision and they said, Well, girls, you're gonna
Jennifer Takagi:have to share a bedroom and have twin beds and they said fine. So
Jennifer Takagi:like the three of us would draw straws when I spent the night
Jennifer Takagi:who got to bed and who had to sleep on the floor? Because
Jennifer Takagi:there were no twin beds. Right. But it was it was very
Jennifer Takagi:interesting to me even especially to see that at a
Jennifer Takagi:young age. Projection we all have X amount of dollars is
Jennifer Takagi:where do we want to spend it? Absolutely. And that was just
Jennifer Takagi:shocking to me that we'll worry to be
Amber Griffiths:Jane, that's what do you go there parents?
Amber Griffiths:Yeah, honestly, for?
Jennifer Takagi:Right, like you just do whatever your parents
Jennifer Takagi:tell you to do. Right, right.
Amber Griffiths:I didn't get to vote about any of that.
Jennifer Takagi:either. I just got in the car. And we moved
Jennifer Takagi:again. I wouldn't have definitely, I don't know, nine
Jennifer Takagi:different schools and three different states in our two
Jennifer Takagi:different states in six different school districts or
Jennifer Takagi:something just to get K through 12. Like, wow, yeah, it was the
Jennifer Takagi:island though. I just went but I went with my sister.
Amber Griffiths:Always, always go for the story. Like even if
Amber Griffiths:it's a terrible thing, go for the story.
Jennifer Takagi:I'd have to make up my tagline. Kagi go for
Jennifer Takagi:the story. Absolutely. Okay, so I interrupted you. Okay. So
Jennifer Takagi:that's your, your to do. And I love celebrate the process. I do
Jennifer Takagi:leadership training, some. I used to do a lot on change
Jennifer Takagi:management. And one of the key parts of a big organizational
Jennifer Takagi:change, celebrate every step along the way to keep the
Jennifer Takagi:enthusiasm and momentum going. When you're an entrepreneur and
Jennifer Takagi:you're sitting in your office, do this all by yourself, like it
Jennifer Takagi:can all feel like a grind. But if you're having a little happy
Jennifer Takagi:dance party over every time that emails actually went out. Yeah,
Jennifer Takagi:at the right time.
Amber Griffiths:The calendar wasn't screwed up on timezone
Amber Griffiths:like timezone map worked. Yes. That requires tater tots and a
Amber Griffiths:dance.
Jennifer Takagi:Yes, exactly. Exactly. All right. So number
Jennifer Takagi:one, define what you mean by success,
Amber Griffiths:all right number here by success. And I
Amber Griffiths:think you're right, this celebrating the process, you
Amber Griffiths:know, especially when you get into corporate, like when I was
Amber Griffiths:working with Coca Cola, or when I was working with some of these
Amber Griffiths:higher end like big corporations, Young Living and
Amber Griffiths:that kind of thing. Do work on these KPIs. And they work on
Amber Griffiths:like, here's our goals, and here's our benchmarks and blah,
Amber Griffiths:blah, blah, and they have all these fancy words for them that
Amber Griffiths:entrepreneurs have to but we have different semantics for
Amber Griffiths:them. But they don't stop them. They are driven by them. And
Amber Griffiths:they are used to like Well, I'm gonna withhold your bonus until
Amber Griffiths:we hit this benchmark or nobody gets a raise if we don't hit
Amber Griffiths:this you know, and they're the money thing is real, but
Amber Griffiths:celebrate it when you get there and celebrate the 12 Awesome
Amber Griffiths:parts before that to like you just have a meeting where nobody
Amber Griffiths:lost their marbles and everybody could agree on something. Oh,
Amber Griffiths:yeah. Break out the bubbly. Like, that's crazy. Cool. That's
Amber Griffiths:huge, right? It's a different way to create your brand
Amber Griffiths:culture, when you can celebrate the little things. And when
Amber Griffiths:people feel acknowledged, and when they realize that I don't,
Amber Griffiths:it's not I'm not just a number that's helping them hit this
Amber Griffiths:goal. I'm this human that is contributing, I matter. This is
Amber Griffiths:a big deal. So yes, absolutely define your own level of
Amber Griffiths:success. And that's if you're in corporate, if you're
Amber Griffiths:entrepreneur doesn't matter, define what your success looks
Amber Griffiths:like. The second thing I would say is you have to do it your
Amber Griffiths:way. Yes, there are certain fundamentals, certain
Amber Griffiths:foundational pieces. I mean, even when I work with people
Amber Griffiths:with their brand, I'm like, let's make sure you have your
Amber Griffiths:logo, font colors, let's make sure you have the assets that
Amber Griffiths:are in place. But you don't have to have 27 lead magnets. You
Amber Griffiths:don't have to be on LinkedIn, if your people aren't on LinkedIn.
Amber Griffiths:And you sure don't have to follow that you have to post 37
Amber Griffiths:times a day, and blah, blah, especially. Because if you are
Amber Griffiths:posting generic 37 times a day, it doesn't matter. You will
Amber Griffiths:still not be unforgettable, you will be scrollable you will just
Amber Griffiths:keep going. Which really is the third thing which is show up as
Amber Griffiths:authentic. Show up and not like oh, I'm authentic. I'm the real
Amber Griffiths:me like people see me without my makeup on. I don't care, makeup,
Amber Griffiths:no makeup. I just don't care about that. What lights you up?
Amber Griffiths:What fuels you? What scares the heck out of you? What? What are
Amber Griffiths:those things that you're doing in your space in your world, the
Amber Griffiths:way you're changing everything and the way you're impacting
Amber Griffiths:people's lives? Share why that matters to you. Don't tell me
Amber Griffiths:it's because I just wanted the world in a world peace and world
Amber Griffiths:hunger. But what those are lovely, thank you very much Miss
Amber Griffiths:America answers. Why are you doing what you do? And how can I
Amber Griffiths:see you in that? How can I feel you? I've run people through
Amber Griffiths:what I call a legend signature nine point test, which is just a
Amber Griffiths:nice way of saying are you showing up as you are? Are you
Amber Griffiths:showing up as generic and vague, because that makes you so easily
Amber Griffiths:forgettable it skippable. People can Google the crap that you're
Amber Griffiths:putting out there? Like it's nothing, there's nothing new.
Amber Griffiths:The experience with you is everything. Especially like if
Amber Griffiths:you're one of those people who likes to write stuff down on
Amber Griffiths:your mirror, get a Sharpie and do this, like not even dry
Amber Griffiths:erase, get a Sharpie, and put this on your mirror. The
Amber Griffiths:experience with you is everything. That's what makes
Amber Griffiths:you different. That's what makes you special. That's what makes
Amber Griffiths:you awesome if that's what makes you legend. If you go through,
Amber Griffiths:for example, you can take this right now and do this like
Amber Griffiths:before dinner or whenever it is you're listening to this before
Amber Griffiths:the next time you have a cocktail. Take your last email
Amber Griffiths:you sent out. Maybe you need a cocktail while you do this. But
Amber Griffiths:but try this. I'm a huge fan of right drunk, edit sober.
Amber Griffiths:Whatever your version of drunk is, and whatever your version of
Amber Griffiths:sober is. Right without censorship. Speak without
Amber Griffiths:censorship. Just let it flow, decide who it is you're speaking
Amber Griffiths:with. And just talk and share and connect with them as a human
Amber Griffiths:being. Way too often we get all up in our heads. I'm working
Amber Griffiths:with people that are in law industry. There they are
Amber Griffiths:attorneys or paralegals educators, and their stuff comes
Amber Griffiths:out so stiff and sterile and like chopped up he could have
Amber Griffiths:done this. Google could have spit this out to me. Where are
Amber Griffiths:you in this, but we get in our heads. And I'm like, I don't
Amber Griffiths:care if it's like a tatertot coma, or a cocktail coma, I
Amber Griffiths:don't care. Get in your space and I will not censor or hit the
Amber Griffiths:delete button and just speak and share. So if you go back through
Amber Griffiths:your last email that you send to somebody, remove your name.
Amber Griffiths:Remove your photo, your logo. Read it. Can I feel of you in
Amber Griffiths:it? Can I tell? You sent it to me? Can I feel you? Can I hear
Amber Griffiths:you? Am I relying on your name at the bottom of it? To tell
Amber Griffiths:that it came from you? Or the second I opened I go ah, that's
Amber Griffiths:always how she greets me of course. Uh, do you have your
Amber Griffiths:signature open your signature, close your signature sign off.
Amber Griffiths:That's true. If you have blogs, or social posts or emails or if
Amber Griffiths:you're on stage given a presentation, you should have a
Amber Griffiths:sinister open close and sign off these this beautiful bookmarks
Amber Griffiths:on your message and the middle part can become vulnerable. If
Amber Griffiths:you've got those anchors and you've got anchors in the middle
Amber Griffiths:that keep that thread going. That I can feel you because I
Amber Griffiths:know you have seen me that makes you unforgettable. That's what
Amber Griffiths:you get to do. So start with your last most recent email, see
Amber Griffiths:if I can feel you your natural. I mentioned that at the
Amber Griffiths:Playhouse or the work party on Monday. I should be able to tell
Amber Griffiths:without all that stuff that it comes from you. If You can read
Amber Griffiths:it, and I can't figure out that it's you. I can't figure out
Amber Griffiths:what you want, then I'm not quite sure why you bothered.
Amber Griffiths:Right? Because then it's just stuff. Then it's like, okay,
Amber Griffiths:well, they told me I had to email every week well, okay,
Amber Griffiths:here's my email. But just show off. You get to, if use your
Amber Griffiths:natural isms, the things that you always say. I say random
Amber Griffiths:stuff, like all the things, and it's not just the three the
Amber Griffiths:words all the things. When I saw it, there's always the smart
Amber Griffiths:because I know what all the things means to an entrepreneur.
Amber Griffiths:And there's like,
Jennifer Takagi:all the time, I repeat it, I get all the things,
Jennifer Takagi:all the things. That
Amber Griffiths:is your version of 1000 Jennifer ism excitable,
Amber Griffiths:powerful, excitable, I noticed that what makes you excitable.
Jennifer Takagi:That's our friend, Kimberly Crowe. Now she
Jennifer Takagi:says it and I'm like, girl that
Amber Griffiths:you're quotable. See if this makes you
Amber Griffiths:feel your own isms. I was working with a woman who was
Amber Griffiths:using quotes ever heard that never email because some coach
Amber Griffiths:somewhere along the line said you should have a quote in your
Amber Griffiths:email, like, awesome, but it's not yours. It's generic as hell.
Amber Griffiths:It has nothing to do with your message. It's a beautiful quote.
Amber Griffiths:But it doesn't actually reflect what you're talking about. And
Amber Griffiths:anybody could use it. And she's like, well, I have this thing
Amber Griffiths:that I always say, that's the quote, on your email. I want to
Amber Griffiths:be able to tell that it's you. That's how we make connection.
Amber Griffiths:That's how you nurture people. And it's not just throwing stuff
Amber Griffiths:at somebody. Because honestly, if I can't tell you, then it's
Amber Griffiths:spam. And I'm not opening it. I'm not engaging with you. It's
Amber Griffiths:part of why 94% of lead magnets are never used. We download
Amber Griffiths:them. We don't open them. We don't use them as because
Amber Griffiths:there's nothing specific. There's no human connection in
Amber Griffiths:there. It's here's a checklist. And again, awesome, I googled
Amber Griffiths:the top 10 Things you need to do for this. What's your take on
Amber Griffiths:it? Your voice, your perspective, your opinion
Amber Griffiths:matters to me. I want to be able to feel the human in you. Those
Amber Griffiths:are the three things. The long answer.
Jennifer Takagi:Sassy, sassy, sassy. All right. So just to
Jennifer Takagi:recap, our three things are, define what success means to
Jennifer Takagi:you. Do it your own way, and show up as your authentic self.
Jennifer Takagi:Absolutely. Hi, Amber so much. I'm sitting there, you know, I
Jennifer Takagi:do these things. And My head spins, and I'm like, I have all
Jennifer Takagi:this I need to do. And then I might go into tatertot instead.
Jennifer Takagi:But nothing wrong with that. So tell me, do you have something
Jennifer Takagi:you would like to give our audience for free? Is there a
Jennifer Takagi:way to sign up with you? Do you have an upcoming event like this
Jennifer Takagi:is free forum? You were kind enough to share your stuff? And
Jennifer Takagi:I'm kind enough to, you know, promote you super happy? Yeah. I
Jennifer Takagi:guess you probably going to come out on probably the 31st of
Jennifer Takagi:July. Probably.
Amber Griffiths:That's, that's fabulous. I will tell you what,
Amber Griffiths:there's a couple different things. How many of your
Amber Griffiths:audience members are speakers? Do you know?
Jennifer Takagi:Oh, I don't think I've really done that. But
Jennifer Takagi:guess what? I am almost at 20,500 downloads. Oh my gosh.
Jennifer Takagi:Celebrate. Yeah, but I haven't ever really liked done it. You
Jennifer Takagi:know, a poll. Maybe I should do a poll to a public. Speaker. Are
Jennifer Takagi:you an author? Are you like, well? Are you an author? Are you
Jennifer Takagi:a leader? Like where do you fall into hell? Yeah, I should do
Jennifer Takagi:that. I should totally do that.
Amber Griffiths:That could just be curious. Yeah, here's what I
Amber Griffiths:would like to share with you. And it is specifically for
Amber Griffiths:speakers. Okay, in part because if you are not speaking, we
Amber Griffiths:should have a conversation. Because you are because you are
Amber Griffiths:a speaker, even if you're not on stage in front of 10,000 Even if
Amber Griffiths:you do not want to be Mel Robbins Brene Brown, even if
Amber Griffiths:that is not where your success lies, your sales calls your
Amber Griffiths:speaker, your social posts, your speaking Anytime you open your
Amber Griffiths:mouth. This is your opportunity to communicate and connect with
Amber Griffiths:your audience. So I have this device to share with you. I will
Amber Griffiths:send you the signature close. Because not everybody has a
Amber Griffiths:signature close. They say thank you good night, when really your
Amber Griffiths:ending is an opportunity to remind them of what they just
Amber Griffiths:experienced, invite them to connect further and further
Amber Griffiths:deepen that connection. So I'm going to send you the signature
Amber Griffiths:checklist of what elements get to be in that signature club was
Amber Griffiths:so that even when you can't sell from stage your son from stage,
Amber Griffiths:even if it's one person, you understand how to open the door
Amber Griffiths:for the next opportunity to speak with them. That's your
Amber Griffiths:signature close. So I will send that link to Jennifer. Okay,
Amber Griffiths:that's a great tool.
Jennifer Takagi:I will have in the show notes. And somebody
Jennifer Takagi:wants to tell me, people are doing this on their phone. They
Jennifer Takagi:don't want to leave their phone, guess what you're on your phone.
Jennifer Takagi:And what is else is on the phone that show notes, and it will be
Jennifer Takagi:a link and it will be clickable. So it'll be beautiful. It'll be
Jennifer Takagi:easy.
Amber Griffiths:Wonderful. And when you get done with it,
Amber Griffiths:you're welcome. Honest to goodness, like it's so stinking
Amber Griffiths:cool. And if you don't, if you look at that and go, Oh, Amber,
Amber Griffiths:you are just smoking something like this wasn't helpful. I want
Amber Griffiths:you to reach out to me. It's Amber at your brand by
Amber Griffiths:design.com. And tell me, this didn't work for me what else you
Amber Griffiths:got? And I'll send you something more helpful for you
Amber Griffiths:specifically, because I don't know enough about you to give
Amber Griffiths:you exactly the next right tool. This was amazing. But if you if
Amber Griffiths:you're like, I don't know, remember, email me sued this
Amber Griffiths:one. I give this a for. Like if it's an eight that needed a
Amber Griffiths:little something. And I'll send you something better for you
Amber Griffiths:specifically designed for you.
