Jennifer Takagi:

Welcome to Destin for success. I'm your

Jennifer Takagi:

host, Jennifer Takagi, and this is episode 350 I absolutely

Jennifer Takagi:

cannot believe i not i i can't even talk. I'm so excitable

Jennifer Takagi:

about it. Yeah, I know that's not the right word, but I like

Jennifer Takagi:

to use it all the time. Have you been around for much of my life.

Jennifer Takagi:

I started this podcast. The first one dropped in September

Jennifer Takagi:

of 2018 I met an amazing woman, Michelle Abraham, at an event. I

Jennifer Takagi:

had hired multiple coaches. I had done everything to the best

Jennifer Takagi:

of my ability. Let's like put some caveats out there, to the

Jennifer Takagi:

best of my ability, to implement what they were teaching me to

Jennifer Takagi:

build a business, and things weren't working, and nobody was

Jennifer Takagi:

showing up. I, like, I had some success, but it wasn't

Jennifer Takagi:

consistent. It was just kind of, you know, a bit of a mess. So I

Jennifer Takagi:

meet Michelle, and I was like, Oh, my last coach told me to do

Jennifer Takagi:

this, and I did it, and I did all the things. And what should

Jennifer Takagi:

have taken two weeks took, like, three months, because I didn't

Jennifer Takagi:

have all the tech, I didn't have the things. Does that sound like

Jennifer Takagi:

you? You don't have all the things that you need. So it just

Jennifer Takagi:

became disappointing, if not devastating, at that point. And

Jennifer Takagi:

Michelle is the sweetest, kindest person ever. And she

Jennifer Takagi:

looked at me, she is, you don't have an audience. Now, when I

Jennifer Takagi:

tell this story, I make it much more dramatic. And Michelle's

Jennifer Takagi:

like, No, it's not quite how it went. And I was like, Yeah,

Jennifer Takagi:

Michelle goes, well, you don't have an audience. Nobody's going

Jennifer Takagi:

to show you have an audience. Nothing will sell. But I like my

Jennifer Takagi:

version better than the reality. The reality was very kind, very

Jennifer Takagi:

gentle. And I said, Well, how do I get an audience? And she said,

Jennifer Takagi:

a podcast. And I was like, I don't know how to do that. I

Jennifer Takagi:

don't know what to do. She goes, Oh, great. I have a company that

Jennifer Takagi:

does that for you. So this was the end of July. We were an

Jennifer Takagi:

event in Los Angeles. Uh, no, we weren't. We're in Las Vegas. Met

Jennifer Takagi:

at this event towards the end of the the event. Mind you, she

Jennifer Takagi:

lived in on the west coast of Canada, still does. I'm in

Jennifer Takagi:

Oklahoma, still am. Everything's done online, right? This is like

Jennifer Takagi:

pre World shutdown. You have to learn to work online. We already

Jennifer Takagi:

were there. Michelle was already there. I was getting there. So

Jennifer Takagi:

we start, we start this podcast. I say we because it was a joint

Jennifer Takagi:

venture. Michelle Abraham and I. Her company is amplify you. They

Jennifer Takagi:

produce my podcast. I record the sessions, I upload them, and

Jennifer Takagi:

they take it from there and publish it on all the podcasting

Jennifer Takagi:

platforms. So we start this podcast. Michelle is very

Jennifer Takagi:

intuitive. She's very business savvy. I would call her really

Jennifer Takagi:

an intuitive business strategist. She's never been

Jennifer Takagi:

called that, and I've never told her that, but that's what I'm

Jennifer Takagi:

going to say. And she said, Well, who's your target market?

Jennifer Takagi:

Who do you like to work with? And I said, new managers,

Jennifer Takagi:

because as a new manager, I really did not have the skills I

Jennifer Takagi:

needed to lead a team, and I didn't. And throughout my career

Jennifer Takagi:

in the federal government, before the federal government,

Jennifer Takagi:

in corporate they would send you to training federal government

Jennifer Takagi:

at not so much, not so much. So I literally would pay for my own

Jennifer Takagi:

training. I would go to my boss, I would say there was a

Jennifer Takagi:

training. I would pay for it myself. Sometimes, if it were

Jennifer Takagi:

during the day, like late in the day, they would let me just come

Jennifer Takagi:

in early and give me a little bit of administrative leave for

Jennifer Takagi:

30 minutes so I could get to the class. I did that for computer

Jennifer Takagi:

training for weeks because we didn't have computer training. I

Jennifer Takagi:

went out of town to Tulsa and stayed with my aunt and uncle

Jennifer Takagi:

for three days of training. I like, I did a lot, and I paid

Jennifer Takagi:

for it myself, and they say you need to coach or help the people

Jennifer Takagi:

that are just like you. So I'm like, Yeah, new managers want

Jennifer Takagi:

this. Guess what? Not so much they want their company to pay

Jennifer Takagi:

for it. Will the company pay for it? No, they have HR

Jennifer Takagi:

departments. They do some, if you get in the right doors, they

Jennifer Takagi:

do some people are very successful of it at it,

Jennifer Takagi:

obviously it was not my lane, because I was not abundantly

Jennifer Takagi:

successful. I did have some successes. I really greatly help

Jennifer Takagi:

people with their leadership journey, but it like wasn't

Jennifer Takagi:

landing consistently. You hear people like, oh, I have a whole

Jennifer Takagi:

business with this. Mine. It was a little hit and miss. Some of

Jennifer Takagi:

that was me, like I was a little hit and miss too, but it just

Jennifer Takagi:

didn't land. It just wasn't there. So then, when I had

Jennifer Takagi:

nothing to do because I had nothing on my calendar. I

Jennifer Takagi:

attended a summit. If you are on my email list, you might have

Jennifer Takagi:

seen invitations to summits. I've spoken on a lot of summits.

Jennifer Takagi:

Actually, it's super awesome. And I get to share my message,

Jennifer Takagi:

and when I share my message, then I give my free gift. If you

Jennifer Takagi:

don't have it yet, it's 12 minute gift.com. And I share my

Jennifer Takagi:

free gift, and people have the opportunity to talk to me one on

Jennifer Takagi:

one. And so I'm I'm doing all these things trying to, like,

Jennifer Takagi:

make life happen, business happen. And I stumble across a

Jennifer Takagi:

woman who says I read Akashic records, and I all read free for

Jennifer Takagi:

10 people. And I was like, Oh my gosh, I've heard of that. I

Jennifer Takagi:

don't know what it is, but I've heard of that. I'm signing up.

Jennifer Takagi:

So I got a free reading. At the end of the reading, she says,

Jennifer Takagi:

Hey, I'm offering a class in the spring. Do you want to come?

Jennifer Takagi:

Yes, yes, I want to come. So I did what I didn't know is I was

Jennifer Takagi:

going to learn how to read Akashic records. And Akashic

Jennifer Takagi:

records are the messages of your soul. It is not anything tawdry

Jennifer Takagi:

or dark side. It is all inspired by God. I'm a Christian, born on

Jennifer Takagi:

a Monday, first time in church the next Sunday, and all it does

Jennifer Takagi:

is allow me to be given messages from your soul that you're not

Jennifer Takagi:

hearing. And every session I've ever had, the person has ended

Jennifer Takagi:

up saying, wow, how did you know that? I didn't tell anybody,

Jennifer Takagi:

like, how did you do that? I know that because your guide

Jennifer Takagi:

shared it with me. Your Spirit team shared it with me. For some

Jennifer Takagi:

people, they're going to go, oh yeah, Jennifer, I'm out. That's

Jennifer Takagi:

airy fairy. I don't want anything to do with that. Okay,

Jennifer Takagi:

you're not my people. I love you. Enjoy your journey. We all

Jennifer Takagi:

have our own journey. But I learned to read Akashic records.

Jennifer Takagi:

I do several readings for people, and I didn't know these

Jennifer Takagi:

ladies at all. We were in a group together, and I was like,

Jennifer Takagi:

hey, I'll do five readings for free. All five of them. Ended

Jennifer Takagi:

the session with May I give you a testimonial? If you are an

Jennifer Takagi:

entrepreneur, if you are a small business, testimonials are make

Jennifer Takagi:

or break, like your testimonials mean the world. I probably

Jennifer Takagi:

haven't put mine out there sufficiently enough for

Jennifer Takagi:

everybody to get to them and see them. But testimonials are it.

Jennifer Takagi:

It's like manna from heaven, manna from heaven. So I thought,

Jennifer Takagi:

I'm going to make a shift in my business. I want to read Akashic

Jennifer Takagi:

records, and I want to help people get better and move

Jennifer Takagi:

forward in their lives, like through another a little less

Jennifer Takagi:

boxed in strategic way. I was all excited about it. Then

Jennifer Takagi:

somebody in the same group said, Hey, I'm teaching holy fire

Jennifer Takagi:

Reiki level one and two. Do you want to join? Yes. I didn't know

Jennifer Takagi:

what holy fire Reiki was. I didn't know what Reiki was, but

Jennifer Takagi:

I heard of it. Yes. I had decided when I left the federal

Jennifer Takagi:

government I was going to say yes to everything I possibly

Jennifer Takagi:

could. I said, Yes, spent two whole days with an amazing woman

Jennifer Takagi:

who taught us. There were just two of us in the class, so we

Jennifer Takagi:

got really hands on instruction on Holy Fire Reiki. And that's

Jennifer Takagi:

just where you notice where the energy is, and you focus on it a

Jennifer Takagi:

while and help it dissipate. It's super cool. It's very easy.

Jennifer Takagi:

It's not anything. Again, weird. But so I was like, Man, this is

Jennifer Takagi:

cool. Then I started reading the book the Emotion Code, by Doctor

Jennifer Takagi:

Bradley Nelson, and he goes into his story about as a

Jennifer Takagi:

chiropractor, identifying that people had trapped emotions,

Jennifer Takagi:

physically trapped in their body that were impacting the flow of

Jennifer Takagi:

energy, of oxygen, of healing, and if you can identify and

Jennifer Takagi:

clear those trapped emotions, then your body can begin to heal

Jennifer Takagi:

itself, because that's what it was meant to do. Awesome. I

Jennifer Takagi:

start doing that. I meet a woman, and she goes, I said, Oh,

Jennifer Takagi:

you know, you're at an event. What's your name? Where are you

Jennifer Takagi:

from? What do you do? You do? Jennifer Takagi, Oklahoma City

Jennifer Takagi:

leadership development. But I've kind of gotten into this other

Jennifer Takagi:

stuff too. What do you do? She goes, Oh, my name is Jen. Short

Jennifer Takagi:

for Jennifer, my name is Jen. I live in Minnesota. I think it is

Jennifer Takagi:

and I clear heart walls. And I went, Oh my gosh, is that that

Jennifer Takagi:

guy's work? Yeah, Doctor Bradley Nelson's work. So I had three

Jennifer Takagi:

sessions with her, paid sessions, because I wanted to

Jennifer Takagi:

see how it worked. I wanted to see how she handled a session

Jennifer Takagi:

with a client. So I did three sessions with her, and I was

Jennifer Takagi:

like, Oh my gosh, this is it. This is it. This is amazing. I

Jennifer Takagi:

will open someone's Akashic records. We will identify the

Jennifer Takagi:

trapped emotions keeping them from reaching their highest

Jennifer Takagi:

level of success, and then we'll clear that. We'll have a little

Jennifer Takagi:

Chitty chat, chat with their guides, and then I can do a

Jennifer Takagi:

little meditation, and we'll just calm all that energy with a

Jennifer Takagi:

little Reiki, like, just settle it all down. We've just, like,

Jennifer Takagi:

stirred up a lot of stuff. Let's just settle all down. I was

Jennifer Takagi:

like, Okay, great. This is awesome,

Jennifer Takagi:

but it didn't really fit new manager media managed right from

Jennifer Takagi:

the start my podcast, and it took me a while to put on my.

Jennifer Takagi:

Girl panties, and say, Yes, I'm going to share this with her.

Jennifer Takagi:

I'm going to tell people what I'm doing. So I call Michelle,

Jennifer Takagi:

and I was like, new manager Media, I'm going to cut it like

Jennifer Takagi:

i I'm doing more than that. I am helping leaders. I am using all

Jennifer Takagi:

my other skills, disc, behavioral profiles, change,

Jennifer Takagi:

style management train. The trainer, Jack Canfield, success

Jennifer Takagi:

principles training that I wrote a book based on one of the

Jennifer Takagi:

principles, reach your goals in 12 minute increments. It's been

Jennifer Takagi:

retitled 12 minutes to success. Reach Your Goals in 12 minute

Jennifer Takagi:

increments. I'm bringing everything together. I'm

Jennifer Takagi:

bringing it all together. And she said, in her very intuitive

Jennifer Takagi:

way, destined for success. And I was like, Oh my gosh, we are all

Jennifer Takagi:

destined for more success than we ever dreamed. So now I work

Jennifer Takagi:

with people in in all these mediums, and some people are

Jennifer Takagi:

like, don't open my Akashic records. I don't want to go

Jennifer Takagi:

there. And my response is, okay, let's not, let's not do that. I

Jennifer Takagi:

only want you to do Emotion Code. Great. Let's only do that.

Jennifer Takagi:

I have since as Dr Bradley has expanded his training base, I do

Jennifer Takagi:

Body Code and belief code shifting also, and with Body

Jennifer Takagi:

Code, it is finding misalignment in your physical, emotional and

Jennifer Takagi:

spiritual body, again, you create that balance, and your

Jennifer Takagi:

body begins to heal itself. Belief code is identifying those

Jennifer Takagi:

beliefs that were set, typically from when we were young

Jennifer Takagi:

children, and we're operating by that. So one example I'll give

Jennifer Takagi:

of my own that I learned through a Bible study, which took

Jennifer Takagi:

months, versus in belief code, it would have been very quickly.

Jennifer Takagi:

The question was, how did your family handle grief? And so my

Jennifer Takagi:

little story was, my cat had gotten hit by a car while I was

Jennifer Takagi:

asleep at night, he had gotten out and my little kitten and I

Jennifer Takagi:

was so sad that my little kitten had been hit by a car, and I ran

Jennifer Takagi:

up to my bedroom, threw myself on the bed, and I'm crying

Jennifer Takagi:

because I I still have cats. I adore cats, and I was just

Jennifer Takagi:

heartbroken that my cat died. And my dad came upstairs, and he

Jennifer Takagi:

had my softball mitt in one hand and a ball in the other, and he

Jennifer Takagi:

said, Jennifer, you can't lay on this bed and cry all day. It's a

Jennifer Takagi:

beautiful day, let's go outside and play catch. So in my seven,

Jennifer Takagi:

eight year old brain, it was you're only allowed to grieve

Jennifer Takagi:

for eight to 10 minutes, and then you have to move on with

Jennifer Takagi:

life. That that was what we did that served me well, like I've

Jennifer Takagi:

never fortunately gotten caught up in long term, debilitating

Jennifer Takagi:

grief and depression. And let me tell you, I've had a lot of

Jennifer Takagi:

grief. If you followed me for a while, you probably know that

Jennifer Takagi:

and some of my stories, but I don't stay there. It comes back,

Jennifer Takagi:

because grief doesn't ever go away. It's like a roller

Jennifer Takagi:

coaster, and you're going along on that long, flat one, and then

Jennifer Takagi:

all of a sudden you get a loop de loop, and it hits all over

Jennifer Takagi:

again. All over again. It stays with you, but you learn to

Jennifer Takagi:

manage it. So like on one hand, that lesson was really good. On

Jennifer Takagi:

the other hand, there have been times in my life where I did not

Jennifer Takagi:

give the event the proper due to grieve it and let it go. And in

Jennifer Takagi:

this Bible study, it was never about bashing your parents. It

Jennifer Takagi:

was, What lesson did you learn? Is it still serving you? Now, if

Jennifer Takagi:

it's not, let's pick a different lesson. Let's find another way.

Jennifer Takagi:

And I love that. Yeah, let's do that. So as I'm putting all my

Jennifer Takagi:

different modalities together and identifying belief systems

Jennifer Takagi:

and helping hundreds of people at this point. And I love it. I

Jennifer Takagi:

love this work. I felt like I didn't have enough structure,

Jennifer Takagi:

and I felt like it was kind of hard to share with people that

Jennifer Takagi:

like without just doing a training for them like it was

Jennifer Takagi:

kind of hard to piece it all together. And I'm in Brendon

Jennifer Takagi:

Burchard Ultra mastermind group. And Brenda Burchard is the

Jennifer Takagi:

founder of growth day. There is a growth day app. I need to put

Jennifer Takagi:

the link if you want to get the growth day app. Every single

Jennifer Takagi:

day, he shares a unique message on our our path, our personal

Jennifer Takagi:

path to greatness and to growth. And I'm in that. I'm in his

Jennifer Takagi:

Ultra mastermind, and that has been an amazing experience. I've

Jennifer Takagi:

been in for two years. I'm one of the founding members, and

Jennifer Takagi:

it's been, I've met amazing people. It's been a great path.

Jennifer Takagi:

And in the spring of 2024 he offered his high performance

Jennifer Takagi:

coaching package, and as soon as the QR code went up there, I

Jennifer Takagi:

grabbed the QR code and was trying to put my credit card in,

Jennifer Takagi:

and it was in a dark theater. My friend goes, What? What are you

Jennifer Takagi:

doing? Jennifer, your number of certifications are so long like

Jennifer Takagi:

I quit listing them all, because people. Are like, that's a lot.

Jennifer Takagi:

It is a lot, because I love to learn. I love to learn. So at

Jennifer Takagi:

the break, I ran outside, where I was in the sunlight, and I

Jennifer Takagi:

could actually see my credit card number to put it in. And

Jennifer Takagi:

she goes, Why are you doing that? And I said, I love, love,

Jennifer Takagi:

love. That Brendan has created a structure, a formula he doesn't

Jennifer Takagi:

get on stage and share about anything with having a structure

Jennifer Takagi:

and a formula around it. And I'm into that. I like that

Jennifer Takagi:

structure. I like, I like, I like the box. I worked for in

Jennifer Takagi:

housing and for the federal government for years. Obviously,

Jennifer Takagi:

I'm into structure. Yeah, I travel and yeah, I'm kind of

Jennifer Takagi:

flighty, whatever, but I like to do it within a framework. I like

Jennifer Takagi:

the frameworks, so I signed up for it. I am certified as a high

Jennifer Takagi:

performance coach through his company growth, and I've now

Jennifer Takagi:

completed round two every year you can't. You have to, every

Jennifer Takagi:

couple of years, recertify, and when I you recertify, you get

Jennifer Takagi:

more trainings. So I just redid it, and it was like, Yeah, I

Jennifer Takagi:

need to go all in. He has 20 plus years of research behind

Jennifer Takagi:

putting this structure together. And I loved it, and I kind of

Jennifer Takagi:

bulked from it a little bit because of high performance

Jennifer Takagi:

coaching. Am I a high performer? No, probably not. Like, I like

Jennifer Takagi:

to watch Netflix. I like to, like, record my podcast and then

Jennifer Takagi:

go play because I, like, did some work. But at the same time,

Jennifer Takagi:

when you look at the definition and what a high performer is,

Jennifer Takagi:

and does high performers want to do it better. They want to do

Jennifer Takagi:

everything to the best of their ability. I hate it when an email

Jennifer Takagi:

goes out with an error. I'm very disappointed when something is

Jennifer Takagi:

late. Winners are on time, losers are late. My mom hammered

Jennifer Takagi:

that into my head when I was a teenager, these things matter to

Jennifer Takagi:

me. And it was like, okay, like, how can I put this in language I

Jennifer Takagi:

really like? And there is a book called younger next year. It's

Jennifer Takagi:

an awesome book, if you get the audio book version, one chapter

Jennifer Takagi:

is read by the gentleman who wrote the book, and the next

Jennifer Takagi:

chapter is by his doctor, who helped write the book, but gives

Jennifer Takagi:

the scientific basis for things awesome book and in younger next

Jennifer Takagi:

year. It's the premise is, if you up your exercise and your

Jennifer Takagi:

fitness and you up healthy eating choices, you literally

Jennifer Takagi:

can change the physical makeup in your body in a year, and it

Jennifer Takagi:

will actually be chronologically a year younger than your

Jennifer Takagi:

chronological age. It's amazing. Personal Development, personal

Jennifer Takagi:

growth works along those same premises, and it's not that

Jennifer Takagi:

you're better than somebody else, it's not that you have

Jennifer Takagi:

fewer challenges than somebody else, it's that you have more

Jennifer Takagi:

tools to handle the challenges. You have more tools. So I came

Jennifer Takagi:

up with this, putting this podcast together, personal

Jennifer Takagi:

growth coaching helps you master your focus, energy and

Jennifer Takagi:

influence, so you can kiss, I can talk. I'm a professional, so

Jennifer Takagi:

you can consistently show up as your most powerful and authentic

Jennifer Takagi:

self no matter what life throws your way. I want to read that

Jennifer Takagi:

again. Personal Growth coaching helps you master your focus,

Jennifer Takagi:

energy and influence so you can consistently show up as your

Jennifer Takagi:

most powerful and authentic self no matter what life throws your

Jennifer Takagi:

way, it's the no matter what life throws your way that

Jennifer Takagi:

matters. I love hearing inspirational speakers talk

Jennifer Takagi:

about how I didn't get that promotion and I was wronged and

Jennifer Takagi:

nobody noticed me. Blah, blah, blah, but then you find out

Jennifer Takagi:

they're consistently late to work. They consistently aren't

Jennifer Takagi:

prepared for the meetings. They didn't go back and get that

Jennifer Takagi:

training. They needed to be able to do the thing, and they're

Jennifer Takagi:

sitting there going, lamp, lamp, lamp. I always hated that, and I

Jennifer Takagi:

don't like to be the wham person I am sure I have been in the

Jennifer Takagi:

past, I just want to pretend that I wasn't.

Jennifer Takagi:

But what are you going to do to live better and be better and

Jennifer Takagi:

leave the world around you, the people in your life, better off?

Jennifer Takagi:

When are you going to step up and act and react with

Jennifer Takagi:

integrity? So personal growth coaching, it's about you, and

Jennifer Takagi:

it's about you thriving, not just surviving. You can get up

Jennifer Takagi:

every morning and just trudge away and go to work, or you can

Jennifer Takagi:

go to work with purpose. I used to make a list of reasons I

Jennifer Takagi:

stayed in my job, if you. Been following me a while. You've

Jennifer Takagi:

probably heard I have this super evil boss, and she is evil, and

Jennifer Takagi:

she was evil and evil to me, I did not have the tools I needed

Jennifer Takagi:

to thrive in that environment. I just barely survived, and I had

Jennifer Takagi:

no support. I had minimal support from friends and

Jennifer Takagi:

colleagues because they thought that it couldn't be that bad.

Jennifer Takagi:

Spoiler alert, it was I had no support from management system

Jennifer Takagi:

because they had to support their managers. So I was out on

Jennifer Takagi:

a limb by myself, and it was terrible, and I'm very

Jennifer Takagi:

confident. Had I had better skills, I could have handled it

Jennifer Takagi:

better, better. I shouldn't have had to, let's be clear, but I

Jennifer Takagi:

could have handled it better. I did seek counseling. You've got

Jennifer Takagi:

to get professional help when you need to. And she said, The

Jennifer Takagi:

problem is you're treating her like a normal person, and her

Jennifer Takagi:

behavior is not normal. So let's give you some skills so you can

Jennifer Takagi:

survive this. And I did. It was super helpful. I made it three

Jennifer Takagi:

more years until I was able to retire early, like super early,

Jennifer Takagi:

like really young, early. So it's about finding a way to

Jennifer Takagi:

thrive. I could have done things differently sooner. I just

Jennifer Takagi:

didn't know how, and I didn't seek the help soon enough,

Jennifer Takagi:

that's all on me. That's totally all on me. I just kept hoping it

Jennifer Takagi:

would get better. Guess what, folks, doesn't get better. You

Jennifer Takagi:

can learn to trust yourself again. I love teaching about

Jennifer Takagi:

intuition. I love teaching about listening to your intuition. I

Jennifer Takagi:

listen to my intuition very clearly. On April 19, 1995 the

Jennifer Takagi:

day that's become known as the Oklahoma City bombing. I was

Jennifer Takagi:

sick, and I literally had a message from above, stay home,

Jennifer Takagi:

take care of yourself. And I did, and because I did, I'm here

Jennifer Takagi:

talking to you today. I like to teach people that. I like to

Jennifer Takagi:

help people listen to their own messages, because you have the

Jennifer Takagi:

answer inside of you. You know what the next best step is for

Jennifer Takagi:

you. And the last thing I want to leave you with on this

Jennifer Takagi:

exciting podcast about evolving as a person and evolving your

Jennifer Takagi:

business is small shifts create big results. Small shifts create

Jennifer Takagi:

big results. When I wrote the book 12 minutes success reach

Jennifer Takagi:

your goals in 12 minute increments, that came because I

Jennifer Takagi:

was speaking in an association meeting on the very first

Jennifer Takagi:

principle in the book by Jack Canfield, the success

Jennifer Takagi:

principles, and number one is, take 100% responsibility for

Jennifer Takagi:

every aspect of your life. If 100% is too much, take 5% more.

Jennifer Takagi:

I became obsessed on what is 5% more? 5% of what? I graduated

Jennifer Takagi:

college with honors without a math class, because I hated

Jennifer Takagi:

math. I went all the way through trig algebra three in high

Jennifer Takagi:

school, and I decided that was more than enough, if you weren't

Jennifer Takagi:

going into a scientific slash medical field. And it was. And I

Jennifer Takagi:

can use a calculator in Excel so I can get done what needs to be

Jennifer Takagi:

done, but what's 5% what is 5% so it boiled down to my day was

Jennifer Takagi:

in three, four hour increments, eight to 12 in the morning, one

Jennifer Takagi:

to five in the afternoon, six to 10 in the evening, and then go

Jennifer Takagi:

to bed, right? And you've got your little breaks in there. But

Jennifer Takagi:

I had like a four hour increment, four, 5% of a four

Jennifer Takagi:

hour increment is 12 minutes. It's 12 minutes. What can I do

Jennifer Takagi:

in 12 minutes so that I don't give up? What's the next step?

Jennifer Takagi:

What can I do in 12 minutes? You can do a lot in 12 minutes, if

Jennifer Takagi:

it's focused, if you have the energy and you've got the power

Jennifer Takagi:

and influence over yourself to do what needs to be done 12

Jennifer Takagi:

minutes to success. Start breaking it down. I've had

Jennifer Takagi:

multiple people hear me speak on various summits about my 12

Jennifer Takagi:

minute increments, and then I hear back later, oh my gosh. I

Jennifer Takagi:

hated reading, but I knew there were some business books I

Jennifer Takagi:

needed to read, and I set my timer for 12 minutes. Made a

Jennifer Takagi:

promise to myself, and I was going to keep it, that I was

Jennifer Takagi:

going to read 12 minutes a day. 12 minutes a day, every day, for

Jennifer Takagi:

one year, is 73 hours. Do the math. I think 73 is correct.

Jennifer Takagi:

What have you done that you've spent 73 hours on ever like

Jennifer Takagi:

consistently. Break it down into 12 minute increments and stick

Jennifer Takagi:

with it. If you have a little more after the 12 minutes, get

Jennifer Takagi:

started. Just go longer. I had a friend FaceTime me, and she was

Jennifer Takagi:

at the gym on the Stairmaster, I think it was, and she was like.

Jennifer Takagi:

I didn't want to come to the gym, but you told me, the first

Jennifer Takagi:

step in the 12 minutes is get all your clothes together so

Jennifer Takagi:

that when you decide, when you have that divine inspiration,

Jennifer Takagi:

you're not looking for your favorite pair of tennis shoes

Jennifer Takagi:

like you can just get dressed and go. Getting dressed and

Jennifer Takagi:

driving are not counted in the 12 minutes you get there, you

Jennifer Takagi:

get on the machine. And she was like, I sat in the parking lot

Jennifer Takagi:

going, I don't want to go in. I don't want to do this. Finally,

Jennifer Takagi:

I made myself walk in the door. I got on the machine. I just

Jennifer Takagi:

looked down and I was already at 17 minutes. I'm in my next round

Jennifer Takagi:

of 12 minutes already. As it turns out, we had a lot to chat

Jennifer Takagi:

about. She made it a whole hour. Sometimes it's just getting

Jennifer Takagi:
